Empire Health has announced the launch of their new website which will allow users to find local practitioners of chiropractic, naturopathy, acupuncture and other forms of holistic medicine.

New research by Organic Monitor finds the early adopters are natural & organic cosmetic companies. A large number are implementing faitrade sourcing policies, with some launching certified fairtrade products. Most product launches have been in the French market, which now has the largest number of cosmetic products with the internationally-recognised Fair Trade mark.

The U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has lowered its official estimate for adverse event reports (AERs) potentially connected to dietary supplements, from 960 to 856 following lower-than-expected actual reports through April.

Nourish America needs your help. The Bayou communities in Louisiana were hit hard by both Hurricane Gustav and Ike. The families are still reeling from the devastation, and young students are coming to school desperate for food. In Texas, over two million Hurricane Ike survivors are still without power and thousands cannot go home. The need for additional supplies of nutrition and water is tremendous.

The Federal Trade Commission has announced 11 law enforcement actions challenging deceptive advertising of bogus cancer cures. The FTC charged the companies with making unsupported claims that their products cured or treated one or more types of cancer. In each case, the company is charged with violating the FTC Act, which bars deceptive claims. Some complaints allege that the companies also falsely touted clinical or scientific proof for their products.

With food and water scarce in the aftermath of Hurricane Ike’s assault on Texas, State Representative Debbie Riddle (R-Houston), Robin Read, President & CEO of the National Foundation of Women Legislators (NFWL), Connie Whitaker, Board President of Nourish America, Mary Morton, Program Director of Nourish America and Mary Wong, President of the Office Depot Foundation have teamed up to bring much-needed relief supplies to the Houston area.

USANA Health Sciences, Inc., announced it plans to begin operations in the Philippines by early 2009. It will be the company's 14th global market. Approximately 8,000 Associates and guests were in attendance at USANA's international convention in Salt Lake City to hear this announcement.
